Complaints & Discipline

By Provincial Statute, the regulation of the practices of engineering and geoscience in Newfoundland & Labrador is vested with Professional Engineers & Geoscientists of Newfoundland & Labrador (PEGNL). Any person practicing engineering or geoscience within the province must be licensed by PEGNL. Discipline of members is part of the Statute and the discipline process is described in Sections 21-37 of the Engineers & Geoscientists Act, 2008 and Part VI of the Regulations.

Any person who has a concern about the competence or professionalism of an engineer or geoscientist or a Permit holding company in the province of Newfoundland & Labrador should raise this concern with PEGNL, the regulatory body of the profession. At the outset, you will discuss your concern with the Professional Standards Director (PSD) and provide any relevant information. The PSD will determine whether the matter falls under the regulatory authority of PEGNL or may be addressed in another way. If it does fall under PEGNL's regulatory authority, you may choose to file an allegation against the individual or firm.
