Shaving Cream Tower Activity
* Please note that this activity did not take place in the St. John's area in 2009

Rules:

  1. Within a ten minute time limit, students build the tallest structure that they can on a table with a plastic covering using the following materials:
    * one 8 ounce plastic cup filled with Gillette Foamy shaving cream
    * 50 toothpicks
    * six plastic straws
    These items will be provided to the contestants at the mall
    .
    Note:  The plastic cup used to hold the shaving cream may be used in the structure; however, no other tools or materials are permitted.

  2. The tower must stand on its own - no assistance from the student is permitted.

  3. Students may request their structure to be measured at any time during the ten minute period.  Once a structure is measured, students may no longer work on it.

  4. The tallest structure wins.  The height of the structure will be the vertical distance from the table to the highest part of the structure.

  5. The competition is open to age groups 6 - 10 and 11 - 15.

  6. Prizes will be awarded to each age group as follows:
    * 1st Place - $25
    * 2nd Place - T-shirt
    * 3rd Place - T-shirt

  7. No adult assistance please!
