Professional Engineers use the designation P.Eng. and Professional Geoscientists generally use P.Geo. The P.Eng. and P.Geo. designations indicate licensure and are the seals of engineering and geoscience quality. These professionals demonstrate that they value the highest standards of practice and ethics. The designations represent quality in all aspects of life — from developing a mechanical heart, to constructing bridges and buildings, to finding mineral resources. To become licensed professionals, graduate engineers or geoscientists must meet academic requirements; pass a professional practice and ethics examination; have four years of relevant working experience (internship); and continue their professional development throughout their careers. During their four years of internship, graduates are called Geoscientists in Training (G.I.T.) or Engineers in Training (E.I.T.). |
