Fascinated with human performance during survival
situations, Robert is committed to Undertaking a PhD in Ship Evacuation Simulation at the University of Greenwich, Robert is examining passenger ships, such as ferries and cruise ships, from the point of view of what happens when an alarm has been sounded, until all the passengers have assembled in a designated area. Through his research, Robert aims to improve current international regulations governing the design of passenger ships and the guidelines for evacuation analysis. These scholarship recipients are both representative of and are responding to concerns held by the engineering profession. They demonstrate how the engineering profession can contribute towards a healthier, cleaner, safer, more competitive and sustainable Canada. They are working on diverse projects, including:
