PEGNL appoints new CEO and Registrar

On behalf of the Board of Directors, Chair Darryl Benson, P.Eng., announces the appointment of Geoff Emberley, P.Eng., as Chief Executive Officer and Registrar of PEGNL, effective 1 July, 2010.

Geoff first became involved with PEGNL as a Councillor from central Newfoundland in 1988. He became Second Vice President in 1994 and progressed to President in 1996-1997. In addition, he has been a member of or chaired a variety of committees. Among the committees are Regulating the Professions, Discipline, Environment and Endowment.

Of special note are his contributions in the areas of environment, open web steel joists, professional development, software engineering, and working with government regarding changes to the Professional Engineers and Geoscientists Act.

He also made an equally strong commitment to CCPE [now Engineers Canada.] His contributions include being a member of the Board of Directors, the Finance Committee, the Task Force Responding to Presidents Committee, the Government Relations Committee, and the Executive Committee of the Board.   His position on the Executive Committee gave him the opportunity to offer his extensive engineering experience and knowledge to influence the direction of the national organization at that time.

Geoff comes to PEGNL with extensive engineering experience in a number of areas, mostly at Newfoundland Power. He is also a volunteer with the East Coast Trail Association, serving as a board member, among other duties.

In 2002, Geoff received PEGNL’s Award for Service for his long and dedicated service to the engineering and geoscience professions and to PEGNL through his service as President, as CCPE Director and in other voluntary capacities.
