New Board Members Appointed

Board of Directors Chair Darryl Benson, P. Eng. is pleased to announce that the Minister of Government Services, the Honourable Kevin O’Brien, has appointed three public representatives to the PEGNL Board of Directors; Mr. Glenn Mifflin, CA; Ms. Sherry Freake, RN and Mr. Terry Parsons.

Terry Parsons

The Engineers and Geoscientists Act 2008 came into force on July 1, 2009. The Act established a twelve (12) member Board of Directors, made up of nine (9) elected professional members and three (3) public representatives appointed by the Minister. The public representatives were appointed for three-year terms. The elected members continue service from the former Council, with their terms expiring either in 2010 or 2011 based on their original election to Council.

The elected Directors are:

  • Dr. Jim Wright, P. Geo., Vice Chair

  • Barry Thomson, P. Eng., Past President

  • Todd Churchill, P. Eng.

  • Kim Durant, P. Eng.

  • Rod Churchill, P. Geo.

  • Jennifer Williams, P. Eng.

  • Carl King, P. Eng.

  • Gilbert Bennett, P. Eng.

Ex-officio (Non voting) Representatives on the Board are:

Glenn Mifflin, CA. is Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of North Atlantic Refining. He holds a MBA from Queens University and is a notary public.

Sherry Freake, RN is the Chief Operating Officer at Central Health in Gander.  She holds a B.N. and B.Sc. from Memorial University and a Masters of Health Services Management from Charles Sturt University, Australia.

Terry Parsons, is the Vice President of Corporate Affairs and Manager of Business Development with Design Management Group in Gander. He is currently President of Freedom Villages Inc and former Chair of the Gander International Airport Authority.
