Labour Market Study Update

In April's Dialogue, Members were asked to participate in a Labour Market Study.  An initiative of Engineers Canada and the Canadian Council of Technicians and Technologists (CCTT), in partnership with Human Resources and Skills Development Canada (HRSDC), the Study's objectives are to collect and analyse labour market information to:

  • inform the planning and integration of international engineering graduates;
  • better understand the changing work and skill sets required by the engineering team today and in the future;
  • depict a detailed picture of supply and demand; and,
  • identify labour force and skills implications from various economic realities.

Update

The Engineering and Technology Labour Market Study's Version 1 of the Labour Market Tracking System report, entitled Labour Market Conditions-2008 to 2010, has been completed and is currently being reviewed. The employee survey is currently available on the website, and continued collecting data through the fall of 2008.

Research activity 1 (demand forecast) has been completed and the results of the employer survey are now available in the report entitled 2007 Engineering and Technology Employer Survey. Following review and approval from the Steering Committee, the report will be released to the public through the study's website. For more information, contact Samantha Colasante
