Book Time Now for PEGNL's 2008 Conference and AGM

The topic for this year's Conference, to be held at the Fairmont Hotel, St. John's, is Managing Risk in the Professions.

Now is the time to think about noting the Conference in your calendars and, if required, booking flights and accommodations.

The activities begin with a Meet and Greet reception on Thursday, June 12th.

Technical presentations begin on Friday, June 13th with a variety of speakers, including:

  • Dr. Tom Cooper, MUN's Faculty of Business;
  • Dr. Faisal Khan and Dr. Dag Friis, P.Eng., MUN's Faculty of Engineering and Applied Science;
  • Stephen Panciuk, ENCON Insurance; and
  • Alan Brown, Petro-Canada.

The keynote luncheon speaker is Darrel Danyluk, P.Eng., a past president of Engineers Canada, and currently Chair of the World Federation of Engineering Organizations Committee on Engineering and the Environment, which includes participation in the UN Commission on Sustainable Development and the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change.

Prior to the AGM on Friday afternoon, there will be a briefing on the proposed new provincial Engineers and Geoscientists Act.

The Awards dinner will be on Friday night at which time the PEGNL Awards will be presented to those who have contributed in a meaningful way to PEGNL and/or the community.

Detailed information will be included in the official registration package to be issued in May.

If you have any questions, please call the PEGNL office (709) 753-7714 or visit www.pegnl.ca.
