Provincial Master Bridge Builder is Andrew Day 


Andrew Day 

Student Andrew Day is the Provincial Master Bridge Builder in the Bridge Building Competition in National Engineering and Geoscience Week [NEGW] 2007.  Andrew designed a bridge with a mass of 503 grams and a span of 60 cm, which withstood a load of 569 kg before failing.

In June, at Leary's Brook Junior High assembly, NEGW Chair Robert Woolgar, P. Eng., presented Andrew with a cheque, a plaque and a t-shirt as Master Bridge Builder 2007.

A cheque and plaque were also presented to Matthew Tucker for second place winner of the Bridge Building Competition in the Eastern Chapter of PEGNL.

Other winners from the Eastern Chapter of PEGNL were Jennifer Burry & Renee Smith whose bridges obtained the maximum load.  Jennifer & Renee each received a NEGW t-shirt.

Teacher Todd Woodland of Leary's Brook Junior High School was presented with $500 and a plaque for the school sponsoring the 1st place winner.

Second and third place provincial winners were Jordan Walters, Balbo Elementary, Clarenville and Caroline Hedge, Menihek High School, Labrador respectively.
