APEGN Environmental Award

Each year the Environment Committee receives and reviews applications received from industry for an Environmental Award. The Committee recommends an award(s) to be presented during the Annual Conference. Last year there were no applications.

The purpose of the award is to improve the provincial environment by:

  • More efficient use of materials and energy by industry, government and other public institutions, and householders.
  • Commending projects that enhance or improve the existing state of the environment in the province of Newfoundland and Labrador.
  • Making the public aware of our Association's concern for the environment and their contributions to its improvement.
  • Ensuring engineers and geoscientists are fully aware of their public responsibilities in designing and creating equipment and processes that are fully compatible with modern environmental science and technology.
  • Providing provincial organizations and individuals with incentives to seek out and implement environmental improvements.

Recipients of the 2003 Environmental Award will be recognized at the APEGN Annual Conference in October and the successful submission will be featured in Dialogue, local newspapers and will be offered for publication to an industry and trade magazine of the recipient's choice.

Guidelines for the preparation of submissions may be obtained by contacting Mr. Gerry Moores, P.Eng., or any member of the Environment Committee.
