PEGNL Awards Bursaries to Engineering and Geoscience Students
Today, Professional Engineers and Geoscientists (PEGNL) provided 21 Memorial University students with bursaries ranging between $1,125 and $1500 for a total of approximately $26,000.
“At PEGNL we are always encouraged by the commitment and dedication shown by students in both the engineering and geoscience programs. We recognize the challenges that students face, and particularly the financial pressures. Therefore, our bursaries are provided to students based on financial need and are intended to assist with relieving some of the financial pressures allowing students to focus on their studies.”
-Geoff Emberley, P. Eng., CEO of PEGNL
The bursaries are from PEGNL’s Endowment Fund and are annually awarded to students in Engineering and Geoscience programs at Memorial University. Students are selected based on financial need, derived from a set of criteria used by officials in the Faculties of Engineering and Earth Science.
The bursaries announced today are in addition to various other scholarships and awards presented by PEGNL throughout the year. Other scholarships and awards include the Past President’s Engineering & Geoscience Scholarships, the Awards for Excellence, the Cossitt Award, and various other scholarships and awards totaling approximately $10,000.
PEGNL is an organization whose mandate is to regulate the practice of engineering and geoscience in the public interest in Newfoundland and Labrador, as outlined in the Engineers and Geoscientists Act (2008).
